SP4

SP4 is a 83.3% Clear One Face product with a minimum CB4 or better back.

SP4 is sorted from our random-width Superior (SUP) grade to a targeted width of 3.75” to 5.0” (+/- 1/8”). It is a high-yield, narrow Superior product. It’s well-suited for narrower door casing patterns, furniture components, cabinets with wider stiles & rails, and other applications where the wider boards in Superior are not required.

Notes:

SP4 admits all boards two square feet and over surface measure, yielding no less than 83.3% Clear One Face cuttings. The reverse side of the board will be CB4 grade or better.

Wane is limited to 8.3% of the surface measure of the board on the best face. Wane may be divided, showing on both board edges.

The aggregate inches of pith length, will not exceed 2 times the surface feet of the board.

The aggregate inches of split length, will not exceed 2 times the surface feet of the board. Splits diverging more than 1″ (25mm) per 12″ (305mm) in length, are not admitted, except when 12″ (305mm) or shorter and within one lineal foot from the end of the board, leaving at least 50% clear wood and not less than 25% sound wood in aggregate.

Side bend is limited to 0.5″ (13mm). Pin knots are not considered a defect.
