PR4
PR4 is a knotty appearance grade with sound tight knots, yielding 83.3% Structurally Sound Cuttings.
PR4 is our top-of-the-line, sound, knotty appearance grade sorted for the narrower boards. PR4 is sorted to 3-3/4” to 5” (+/- 1/8”) from our Premium (PRE) grade. PR4 is often used for mouldings, furniture construction, panels, doors, cabinets, furniture, and where the wider premium board is not required. It does contain Alder’s highly desired knotty appearance.

Notes:
The PR4 face knot size is limited to 1/2″ (13mm) unsound and 1″ (25mm) sound.
Each board will yield no less than 83.3% sound cuttings. The reverse side will be FRA grade or better.
Pencil wane is allowed on the PR4 product, and defined as 1/4″ (6mm) in depth by 1/4″ (6mm) in width.
Side bend is not allowed
