PR6

PR6 is a knotty appearance grade with sound tight knots, yielding 83.3% Structurally Sound Cuttings.

PR6 is our top-of-the-line, sound, knotty appearance grade sorted for the slightly wider-than-average boards. PR6 is sorted to 6.0” to 7.0” (+/- 1/8”) from our Premium (PRE) grade. PR6 is often used for wider door, base and crown mouldings, where the wider premium board is required. It does contain Alder’s highly desired, knotty appearance.

Notes:

PRE admits all boards two board feet and over surface measure, yielding no less than 83.3% sound cuttings. The reverse side will be FRA grade or better.

Wane is limited to 25% of the width and 50% of the length. Wane may be divided, showing on both board edges.

Side bend limited to 1″ (25mm).

Face knot size is limited to 0.5″ (13mm) unsound and 1″ (25mm) sound in 4″ to 5.5″ (102mm to 140mm) widths. In boards exceeding 5.5″ (140mm) wide, knot size is limited to 1″ (25mm) unsound and 2″ (51mm) sound.
